Well got to Sharpley at approx 9.05 am this morning, set up and fishing by 9.40, The day started off and ended much the same, very quietly, so i decided to take a couple of pics on my phone.Had a coffee and a cake around 11.30 then continued fishing. It was Pauls first time at Sharpley and he thoroughly enjoyed himself, even though he blanked, but he did have 1 fish on which he lost about a metre from landing it.Any way heres a couple of pics of the lakes

Nice one Jimmy ,always a great feeling to catch the first of any species eh !

Pics like yours always make a report better so well done on that as well mate.

Well done Jimmy-looks like you had a nice day. I,ve been at work all over the hols but i,m not that bothered-will be out again on my days off.
Mick.

Well done mate; I've only been fly-fishing myself about half a dozen times, so far without success - hoping to get down on thursday and try again!

best of luck to you mate, that first fish is a great feeling, and its nowt like sea fishing where you just haul ya fish through the kelp, the power in these fish felt through a fly rod is great, cant wait to catch a bigger 1 now, maybe even a double if i am lucky enough

Well done Jimmy - even the magazines are worth buying as well. The rows and the politics are a fantastic bonus - you thought peeler crab wars were interesting - fly anglers have organised fights in carparks to decide wether a klinkhammer is a dry fly or not :D

Cheers bud, from what I've been told, once you've got that first one under your belt things only get better! I've also got myself a salt fly-rod which I'm really looking forward to using this summer for bass, pollack, mackerel & the like - I gather those puppies really go on the fly gear!!

Gary :)

i'm also looking forward to trying the sea fly in the summer months, been racking my brain for venues coz blyth pier just don't suit the bill!

Locally, I was going to try Whitley Pipe & also the pipe at the top end of Blyth Beach (at high tide you can walk along and fish from the end - if the mackerel come that close, or try for bass at dawn or dusk). I also fancy taking it north to the likes of Beadnell / Seahouses to try for pollack in those deep gullies. Anywhere has to be worth a try....

Gary :)
