Had a run up to Brampton today with a mate expectations wernt too great as the water was very cold and a 5 cormarents kicking about.
First hour went by without so much as a touch
Decided to try the fly but I picked up the wrong box this morning but was given a cats whisker. Few chucks and nothing until I got nailed by a decent rainbow trout weighing 4.5lb
Next chuck and I got snapped off by another nice rainbow and my fly was gone none left.
Another couple if hours without so much as a touch until my float shot under and started swimming away and guess what I missed the bloody thing couldn't believe it.
Decided to try and make a couple of flys using pie tins and duck feathers but didnt hook up although they look the part. Simon blanked but is eager to go again I had a try at wading and sank in the mud when I tried to move guess what happened I fell back and got my coat soaking luckily the phone was inside my waders

Bridge ?? As you turn right off the A69 from Hexham into Brampton before the road bends left near the fish farm turn right again as if your driving into the woods

its one if my fav fisherys its no good if you like manacured lawns its a bit wild but it attracts lots of wild life what amazes me is the size of the damsels seen them up to 2.5 in

Aye i know where ya mean now i was thinking of some where else :D

that big lake in the woods is it part of the fish farm.??? and is it fly only

not part of the fish farm as i'm aware. fly & worm. great venue had my best days fishing there, including a 12lb rainbow and a 5lb brown :-o among many other good fish (browns aint stocked so must be returned)

its not part of the fish farm but the bloke who runs it has a fish farm up at alston he puts big fish in here ive some cracking blues there c and r used to be tenner

There some very big fish in here the record was 23lb and is still in there he has a big fish week where it gets stocked with only double figure fish
The bloke who owns it is called fergus he's a great bloke and knows his stuff
Fly and worm only and is not linked with the fish farm in any way

well done Dave and thanks for the info on fishery. Waiting for weather to pick up and also for my licence on the 1st April.
Mick.
