NESA species hunt?

Anyone fancy having a NESA species hunt? I know there are ones on other forums like BSA but not all of us are on those (myself included) so it might be fun to have our own. The idea would be to catch as many different species as possible by rod and line from the shore during 2012. It would be like the Lure Fishing Challenge but not restricted to lures and covering the whole year. No prizes or anything just a bit of fun. What do you think?

was thinking about that the other day .. i was bsa n/e species race winner 2 years running think i had 18-19 different species even have a trophy for 2010

but the following year was just a pretend one but was very competitive tho but its not the same now where just any size fish (tiddlers) where before proper size limit had to be caught measured and photoed

i think only sized fish should count, i understand a fish is a fish but in this case sizeable fish should only count as you wouldnt take a undersiezed fish and it would only be put back to fight another day.

Not all fish have size limits though. If you caught a grannyfish, eelpout, launce, hagfish etc it should still count as a species.

Yes I would think so if you had photos and could say the date they were taken.

the whole idea of any sized fish is that you take a pic then return the fish Alive to the water, what if you caught an undersized tommy, whats the harm in photographing it before putting it back into the water same as you would with any undersize fish

point taken, good idea to build up a bit banter and competition between members on here

Yes I would think so if you had photos and could say the date they were taken.

if there is enough interest should try and get it made as sticky by mods and let the challange commence. photo and date fish caught obviously a must.

a few years ago my young lad caught a quite rare tadpole fish when he was catching small coalies down the side of the pier,its weight was just over 15 ounces i checked out the uk record and it was 1lb 5 oz would you say that was a size fish at 15 ounces.

6 species last night of roker - 2 whiting - 1 Coalie - 1 Flounder - 1 Rockling - 1 Codling - and a rats nest of shockleader including 3 6oz leads - din't kna what I was pulling in. Does the last 1 count? :question:
