Welcome to NESA Craig. As long as they are not breaking the law there is nothing you can do about it. There still seems to be quite a few fish coming in so I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you do a search through the NESA archives you will see that this subject has been talked about many, many times lol.

Bumped into a friendly old fella in Fraser's Whitley Bay a couple of months back who reckoned that a lot of the netting right next to beaches was blokes catching a bunch of flatties for crab-pot-baits. Have often seen small boats off Warkworth and Alnmouth and Blyth and presumed they were after Sea Trout and Salmon.

If they are netting maybe it means that it's a good place to throw out a line......(not that the Salmon ever seem to fancy my rag.lug cocktails like:D)

Don't know if any posters watch the 'One Show' on BBC, but there was a small bit on last night about the demise of the dogfish and they are claiming that the potters are now using them as bait as they are so cheap.

couldn't see them being nets, it's to rough, they could just have been pot markers.

I watched that Rory, pretty good. I would have my doubts about that too Alan. That's what always happens when "somebody told me" isn't it.

well they wherer stopped from using the edible crabs they couldn't use for bait, and what is easier than going to the local market and getting the fish heads etc. Doggies, loads of them, lets use them. Well thats where they can be caught, i know a few that now use flounders etc, no MAFF size limit.
