New boat - Winter project

Thanks, yeah we want to make sure we do it all properly, especially since there's no rush really, we still have the other boat for trips out when the weather allows! It is a shame we couldnt just replace our other boat completely, but never mind, I like having a project to keep me out of mischief! ;)

I am having great difficulty in finding out information on moorings in the River Tyne however. Found Royal Quays (way too expensive for what we'd be using it for!), and St. Peters Basin (not called yet but Im guessing it'll be reasonabley expensive due to having 24hr security), but cannot find any others i.e. Ouesburn, Tyne Cruising Club etc. Does anyone have any links or numbers they could share?

Thanks.

Steve

......take it thats a no then? ;) Is it a case of knowing the right people to get in these clubs? Just I can't get any contact info and have seen people on other sites / forums asking the same questions but to no avail. :s

Oh well, going up to the boat again tomorrow to see if we can work on the trailor, take it off hopefully. Also going to make up stencils for the cushions and take measurements for the curtains. hopefully fit a cabin door too as Im sick of having to duct tape pheasant feed bags on the door hole! :red:

Also need to pop over to my other boat and pump out the water - I fear I have neglected her a bit and she's probably full to the brim.

Cheers

Thanks for the info on Friars Goose - I gave them a call and it would total around £650 + insurance fees (there was a ~£300 fee to join the club so dont think we will go for that since we were only planning on keeping the boat for 1 season). Shame because it sounds like a canny marina, but we need something cheap and cheerful if poss. Maybe I'm asking too much, but Im only used to the Seaton Sluice harbour fees of ~£130 per year! :/

I also called St Peters Basin but there it was going to be £55 per foot plus your yearly POT fee (and Im guessing insurance also), making the total probably over £1200 I would say for the year. Again, sounds like a nice place but I can't afford that for what we would be using the boat for. :( Price for Royal Quays is more again, but you get what you pay for so can't grumble at that, just can't justify it for what would technically be a 'second / pleasure boat'.

I think it sounds like we'll just be selling the boat on I think when we're finished, which is a shame but got to be sensible about these things! There's still a few more clubs / marinas in the Tyne but its hard to get any information for them and Im guessing they'll all be priced around the same anyway. Will definitely have a few trips out on her though first and just pay to launch her in the tyne somewhere, or maybe go up to a loch in Scotland for a weekend if possible. That would be canny! :D

Thanks for your help.
