Hi eyeryone,
Have finally made the effort to join in. I hope you fellow fishermen can help with some advice, I fancy splashing out on a greys apollo but Iam not too sure whether to go for the 13\' or 14\' model. will be using a normal overhead thump cast off the rocks---many thanks!

In my oppinion the 14ft rod is better although it depends on your own style and set up ,I\'ve got one I take it we\'re talking about the mark 2 here ,I love it for hard ground fishing although everyone I speak to says the mark 1 was, and is far superior, however getting back to the mark 2 , the 13ft version when new is much longer due to the spigots being tight ,so you\'re talking at least 13ft 6 ,I\'ve had mine a couple of years now and the spigots are still as tight as when new.
So in answer I\'d go for 14ft personally ,a quality rod ,you can\'t go far wrong.

Hi mate and welcome to NESA the mk 1 is no longer available,I use the 13\' mk 1 and its a superb rod however the new mk 2 Apollos are not suppose to be as good but I have\'nt personally compared them, the Greys Nitra is a cracking rod which is a proper rough ground rod according to Greys

i can vouch for the 13ft apollo mk1 and the new greys nitra ,my m8 danny uses the nitra and he has only good things to say about it

I have both the Apollo mk1 and the Nitra, both excellent rods. If the mk1 is like the mk2 the Nitra will give you extra distance. Look out for the brand new Greys Platinum, rumour has it it\'s better than a WR300.
