Hi folks. Im what you could call an old new member, having been a member on the old site? Its certainly some time since I posted anyway (closet lurker!).
Well Im now back into the swing of things as far as the fishing is concerned. Hope to have a few postings in the not too distant future. Got myself another boat, a 14 foot planing hull thingy with a small house on top. To be named shortly as its name is unknown at present. New 30hp engine to be fitted this weekend along with Radio etc.
Having been off the boat fishing scene for a couple of years due to work and other commitments I will be looking forward to the fishing, that is if there is anything left to catch! Or does anyone know any different???

I keep the boat in my garage so that it can be worked on in relative comfort. This I find is far better than having to do work outside in the inclement weather. No problems with getting electric and having to take off all the `stealable bits` etc, not to mention saving the large cost of the marina fees. ( I thought they were trying to sell me a part of the marina when I asked for a quote to keep it there!)
Also with my last boat I had quite a few journeys across to the west coast so its just a matter of pulling it out of the garage, hitching up and away!
Far better this way than having to go down to the marina, trailer it up then go across the west to find its got to be brought back, untrailered etc, only to find Im going back next week and having to do it all over again!

Thanks for the welcome lads. To answer the question about the West coast, what I normally do is set away from here at 5.00am and get over to Luce bay (Stairhaven) at about 8.00am. We are then launched by about 8.45. This is obviously depending upon the tides, as once low water comes its fairly difficult to get launched from this site. Once out, we stay out until the next high tide-ish before retrieval and then back home. This makes it a very long day and I must admit to having to swap drivers on the way back due to tiredness!
I have tried a couple of other launch sites around this area but find this one to be fairly central to our favourite fishing grounds. We once went around the Mull and boy did we nearly sh@t ourselves! Tide!....More like a whirlpool you see on the telly somewhere in a Tarzan film! We still go round but stay well ofshore now.
We will try and go camping the next time we go over there and make a good weekend of it.
