My Fladen as much as I love it is like soooo last season I simply must replace it :D

Got my eye on the Ugly Stik Braid 18-25lb rod and looked at one in the shop today and am now scheming how to sneak it under the radar of the FPO

Ugly Stik Braid 18-25lb

(not buying through there BTW)

Few options:

  1. sell existing boat rod (I only have one unlike other members who shall remain nameless :D) to raise collateral to facilitate purchase and "justify" buying the new rod
  2. buy new rod anyway to make sure I like it first before flogging the old faithful to claw back expense incurred
  3. buy new rod as above and then conveniently forget to sell old faithful (always need a spare don't we ;))

Prob go with 2 but lean towards 3 as a strong possibility if the FPO doesn't notice :D

I don't need it, I just want it...two very different words that can be made to mean the same :yltype:

They are a nice rod Tony i looked at them in the shops and think it would be a nice action, only thing that put me off was the joint...i only go for rods with the screw fit joint, if it had that i would of been tempted myself.

Go ahead and get it you only live once :) and next season there maybe no fish left to catch!!!

GOT THE SAME DILEMMA, TO BUY or NOT TO BUY:confused:?
EXCEPT I DON'T HAVE TO SNEAK ANYTHING I BUY IN UNDER THE RADAR.IN FACT SHE'S OFTEN SAYING "WHAT DO WANT, I'LL BUY THAT" BUT THESE DAYS I TEND TO REFUSE HER OFFERS, AS I NEVER HEAR THE LAST OF IT "I BOUGHT YOU THAT, I BOUGHT YOU THIS"
SO SHOULD I GET A NEW ROD I FANCY A LIGHTER RATED ONE THAN THE TWO I'VE GOT 20-25lb & 25lb-40lb PENN TUNA STANDUP'S.MAY WAIT TILL ONE BREAKS/SNAPS A TRIP OUT WITH RICHY ONE DID MAKE AN AWFUL :eek:SCARY  CRACKING NOISE:eek:.
HAVE BEEN LOOKING, SEEN ON AT HARDYS/GREYS IN ALNWICK, 6-12LB LONGBOAT FOR £40 BUT DIDN'T BUY IT:red:, AT THAT PRICE I WISH I HAD.

You know how much i love my 8lb-12lb class rod, nothing else ever gets used you should of gone for it :)

One thing is for sure, you can tell its boating time here, i just hope i have and we all have as many good days atsea as last year.

Bugger it I'm buying it...posting the thread was a mere psychological mechanism thingy...and I won't hide the fact either, I shall just say:

"I have spent £80 on a new fishing rod which YES I DID NEED....please don't look at me like that.....":red::D

you could wrap it up nicely and tell her you bought it for her:rolleyes: BUT I don't think you would suit that particular rod wrapped around you neck.:D:D:D:D

Nice one Tony AND Norman ,I already have an ugly stick and I rate it highly I also have a Fladen Maxximus as you know but it hasn't seen much action so together with my new Penn reel I hope to catch one or two little fighters early season and give it a good old bashing. :D;)

Can only try Graham, canny few 10-12lbers last year 5 i think over 12lb.
