I'm looking to start course fishing.
Iv'e been sea fishing for a while now and have lost interest a bit and have really fancied course foe a long time...

I'm looking to buy gear on a budget. Can anyone help me with what to buy for a complete starter? I don't want to buy expensive gear just starting!!

So, I would appreciated some advice please.

this has been recommended to me and to me seems the kind of thing I'm after.

Yer don't need expensive gear to be successful at coarse angling mate.
I would recommend though that you get a reel with a rear drag adjusting knob, very important when playing the likes of a carp. Also I would use hook to line traces as tying a size 18 can be a bit difficult especially when yev been used to 4/0's:D Cheapie 12' rod, swimfeeders and a bag of maggots and away yer go.
Good luck mate

As mentioned, you need to decide what you want to fish for, match or carp etc so the gear could be recommended.

Cheers lads. Aye ,I'm looking to start of with silver fish. Float n feeder.

If you are fishing the commercials get either with a bit backbone as most hold carp.
You have the right idea by starting with float fishing, you will enjoy it more during summer as the fish go off the feed a bit during winter unless you are fishing the rivers?

would advise you to pop across to stargate and tilcon lakes when lads fishin have a word with them see what they are using it is one of the better run club lakes near you as jim says dont go to light on feeder rod you want a med heavy that will cast method feeders and hold decent fish out of snags

Have you got transport mate,if so i have a 12ft diawa float rod you can have along with enough floats to keep you going for year yours for free.i also have a brand new feeder rod which was £35 yours for £20,just remembered ive also got a keepnet you can have.all that leaves is a landing net and a reel.forget the reel just found a daiwa reel to go with the rod:D.A decent landing net with handle will cost about £10-£15 so all in all for£35 your getting a lot better kit than the dragon carp.im sure i can find some other stuff aswell to get you started:)

There's the lakeside or quarry across from the mill tavern in hebburn mate but I think their controlled by clubs so yer need to join. It'll be hard work trying to winkle a fish out at this time of year though

If you want to fish for silvers this time of year I would suggest you fish the rivers. 1) They aren't likely to freeze over 2) The fish still need to feed due to the flow.
