Got two hours spare tomorrow after i drop the wife off at a mates in Newbiggen.
So thinking of going for a short session rather then driving home and back to pick her up sort of thing.
Will be from 11am till about 1ish,tide on the way in.
H/T is at 2pm.
Any idea from anyone that know the area.
Never fished there myself.

Try the prom Paul, turn in right at the traffic lights as you go into Newbiggin (across the road from the chip shop) and follow the road around to the front. it's just a wee walk down the ramp or stairs to the prom.

Jim.

newbiggin beach to the right of the new brakewater with the two people on. it has worked well in the past for me but i normaly fish on a night time never fished there through the day

I was just about to say try the bay/prom. Not sure what you will catch at the moment but it's nice and relaxing. I'd set up for flatties and hope for anything. I like the Green rock's area (right side of the bay when looking at sea) and work my way back along the beach if there is nothing there.

Think i might just end up going for a hell of a walk and checking out some spots for the future.
To much rubbish she wants to take so struggle to get the fishing gear in.

Only fished the bay itself once myself, looked canny but all me and my brother got was a couple of small coalies, sea was flat calm though.

Well managed to squeeze my spining rod in with a few lures and some shop bought rigs with small hooks i was given at Xmas.
So wandered along the bay stopping when i felt like it then on to the rocks behind the church/caravan site.
Had a very small flattie off a squid strip off the beach and what felt a couple of bites at a plain silver mackie lures off the rocks.
No idea what was having a go at the lure but was a good couple of hours and had fun.
Which is what it is all about

nowt better than that.

Excellent. Got a few marks that seem to be spot on, but I've yet to connect with anything worth mentioning, but still there's that sense that there's something out there and it's just a case of try, try, try again... frustrating at times, but oddly aluring.

Yeah still get that kick when you feel the hit through the rod.
So many marks along the rocks that seem so perfect though.Even for some float fishing, bought some floats off E bay and still have never got round to using them

trial and error thats what it is all about to get good amounts and nice fish fishing has went down and at the moment its not to good

Thats what i always say.
You get so many people taking up fishing, joining a forum such as this and jacking it all in after a couple of season as they are not catching as often as they think they should.
So many then sell all their gear and go coarse fishing.
No doubt thinking that will be easier as often lakes/ponds etc are stocked.
But its the same there, knowledge and experience always count and to them there are no real short cuts

yeah i mean course fishing isnt that good i mean you know your going to catch as long as the pond is stocked but when it is sea fishing you have so many more methods to try out

sea fishing has a great sense of wildness that could never be matched by course fishing, and the never knowing of what you could catch from the sea, with no two sessions being the same.
