2011 OPEN

The 2011 NEWBIGGIN OPEN will be held on the 2nd October 2011between 11.30 am - 3.30pm.

Registration will be at the Bank House club from 10.00am - 11.30 am. The weigh in will be at the BankHouse until 4.45 pm. Boundairies will be from Seahouses Breakwater to Tynemouth Pier excluding piers and estuaries.

Entry fees are £10 for seniors - including heaviest fish. Juniors £3. There is also an optional Superpool for £2 with a payout of 50%, 30%, 20%.

There will be £500 for First Prize: Heaviest Flatfish prize of £100: Ladies and Juniors can win a £50 tackle voucher.

There will also be a Greys Rod for 40th place.

As well as what's outlined above we will also have over £2000 of purchased prizes plus donated prizes and trophies.

As far as im aware all baits are aloud
Max 3 hooks or 1 Treble
Im sure spinning is also aloud but mackerel can not be weighed in
 
Aye a had a look they need to make the writing bigger on their sit ive got good readers and still found that hard lol
Might be worth a try spinning if ya getting nowt on the bait
 
hi anyone that knows the law in the north east from the tyne to berwick any form of edible crab . Cart is illegal to use if you are caught regardless of what the rules say, it can’t be used as bait if you are caught using it you can be prosecuted

A few people didn't realise the quality or amount of prizes last year, some thought it was just a sweepstake with cash prizes for the top 3.
So here's a photo of all the prizes from last years open. Expect more of the same this year.
And yes, just to clarify, "No person shall use edible crab (cancer pagurus) for fishing bait."

Liam's already "whacked" me a few times! He's had a 10lb pollack and 7 1/2lb cod from our boat a couple of years ago and he's had better bags than me and his brother Steven in quite a few club comps.

Here are the results from the Newbiggin Open.

340 fished, 112 weighed in. (227 fish which were: 95 flats, 91 cod, 23 wrasse, 12 coalies, 4 pollack, 1 pouting & 1 dogfish) Total weight of over 406lb.
There were 29 people who weighed in but failed to get a prize. Last weight to get a prize was 1lb 6 3/4ozs.
