I'm going down the tyne tonight to catch myself a cod, all my gear is in the car, seatbox, reel and rod.
People say "just give it up, you'll never catch a coddie", but fishing's in my blood you see, deep within my body.
"You didn't catch one last time, or any time before it", i ask them what they're on about, i cannot just ignore it.
Whiting, dab and rockling, we've all come face to face, and a thousand greedy crabs or more, have wound up on my trace.
My wife, she doesn't moan at me, i think she understands, if i could catch a big 'un, i'd be a happy man.
"I'm going to make a pie" she'll say,"when you bring that cod in", coz fish pie's not the same you know, when you only use one whiting.
"Did you get my fish today?", as i walk through the door, freezing cold and soaking wet, with a face that's full of woe, sometimes i'll say "not today" other times just "NO!".
And when i catch my fish, you know, when i've finished crying, i'll put his pic. on NESA's site, so you'll know that i'm not lying.
I know it's out there somewhere, the fish that bears my name, i just need to keep on trying 'it's all part of the game'.
So, i'm going down the tyne tonight to catch myself a coddie, it's going to be a big one, as big as next doors moggie!.
ANDY.
