I think its may be for 2 reasons firstly i there not a popular fish for the pot secondly ive been told they used to get washed up alot in rough seas so a \"cheater\" would be able to pick one or two up for the weigh in.

Apparently they mate or lay eggs in shallow water hence them getting washed up.
