is it August ? :(

2 lads from work, i'll call them lads (60+yrs old ) had booked a day out on the North Star with Jim and with the forcast being what it was, me and Phil decided to tag along too..as me darlin would of been a bit too small to cope with the weather conditions ( getting slung all over the boat )

the sea was choppy to start with and became even worse as the day progressed, dam those s/easterly's ...

fishing was difficult, slow to start and pretty much stayed that way all day

fish were captured, but nothing really sized, we had ling up to about 6lbs and a fair few codling, again up to 4-5lbs, plenty whiting, pouting, a couple of gurnards and plentiful maccy

the day was, as usual good crack and the old skipper tried his best to find the fish :D

no pies today as the holiday diet started last week

Sounds like an OAP'S day out :D, At least you didnt blank Rob and well done to Jim ( The Old Skipper ) :D for sticking at it to get you some fish...:)

Yes, it wasn't the most comfortable 7+ hours Iv'e spent onboard Stingray. BUT we did get out picked up some fish and thats what counts.
Glad to read the Cowpen Queen got sorted seen you had trouble as we passed you on the waiting pontoon.

It's amazing what a difference a few miles can make to the sea state, I've often read reports of lovely flat seas out of sunderland and the Tyne and I've been chucked all over in the boat , this time it seems it was the other way round, it wasn't exactly flat at amble but it was comfortable to fish in for a few hours am, I came in lunch time knowing the forecast wasnt good but even by then if id been on some decent fish I'd have been saying " what wind?"
At least most of us got out and had a bit fishing, not a bad result this year

atleast yas had some fish i hit the bar at sunderland yesterday (not the beer bar):o i knew what was to come if i wanted a roller coaster ride i wud of headed to some fairground local :D but no i turned back and dropped a line in the bay not even a billet to save the day oh well still managed to launch and saved some fuel for next time ;)
