Norway

You can read other reports, loads of boats fish our days.

Mind he is right 1 week with a bigger boat and i be wanting one again lol

Well confirmed and all booked, they Tyne wrecks will get a weeks rest from the 10th of July next year..well from me anyway sure the many other boats be hitting them hard also :)

Cant wait and means i have a reason to buy more fishing tackle :)

Well if the reports from this year are anything to go by you have about the same chance of catching a 30lber over there as you do catching a 8lber over here.

Like all fishing find a large shoal of big fish feeding like that report (with photos) from Aug 2011 21 over the 20s, 9 in the 30s, 4 in the 40s and 1 in the 50s for 11 hours fishing...my god

I take 1 in the 30s per person all day :)

Lots of time to practice on our wrecks first :)

do you eat all the fish you catch when your across there? or does the boat sell them?...if i caught a 30lb halibut or cod i would wanna freeze it and bring it home! lol (thats if your allowed to do that)

Lol maybe, had a day with 7 doubles in one day this year and 2 days with 6 doubles just just on doubles like 11-12lbers.

For the price of them Norway shads £15 quid each i could lose a weeks wage in one day out wreck fishing from the Tyne lol

True, never thought of it that way. I'll stick to the smaller ones.

Well done Rich on booking up-you will love it.
PS when we took the boat out from the harbour at Skarnsundet i motored over to the bridge in the picture i posted. At the mid point of the bridge we were in 500 feet of water. We had a fishfinder on the boat. When you think the deepest i have fished was whitby at 170 feet.
Mick.

In the north east the deepest was arounf 360ft, deepest when skate fishing 585ft. Some spots in our destination can reach 850ft and more !!!!! not like be going that deep.

Hi.
Fished North Norway for the last 2 years and depending on cash, will be booking again next year. Definatley something I would recommened. All in, ya probs looking at a grand for the trip. Both times we planned the flights, airport hotels transfers etc and booked these at the same time as the holiday.
The cost of flights seem to go right up, the later you leave it.
We also drove to london, one year gatwick, the other heathrow and stopped in a hotel with a weeks parking for £110 between 4 of us.
Any info, just ask or drop me a pm.

Yer the flights are a apin, so many options for times and airports..i would rather pay abit extra and only take 2 flights.

Well i have just had on the scales all the gear i have purchased so far along with my reels and it comes to 9kilo so still 14kilo to go and then 8kilo carry on so thats nee botha :) make any spare weight up with food

What I would say, and I was told this, but didnt listen:) Is dont take much gear! The ground isnt very snaggy, no wrecks just peaks and plateuas, you hardly lose any gear and loads of fish are taken off the bottom! No need for huge anchor treble hooks either, good quality trebles 6/0 - 8/0 are perfect. Dead baiting will generally take the bigger fish, but fishing this method can be slow, and when people around you are halling cod after cod in on the pirks, its too tempting to change tactics. Sea waver make a good jig for presenting deadbaits, the giant bait head.
Cheap homemade lead herring style pirks, sprayed chrome, worked the best. Chrome tube pirks were also good.
Giant shads, such as savage gear cutbait herring in red fish or puffin took some big cod and hallibut, but take a re-morgage on the house, to fund buying these!
NETS tackle shop in sunderland sell loads of norway tackle, and offer good advice.

Yer i ahve already been purchased alot of what you mentioned puffin shads, giant storm shads, redfin shads, got herring pirks, lots of other large lures, squid jigs, and a host of homemade flowing traces on 80lb line with 10/0 hooks for ling, cod and howsyourbat if any kicking around.

Hope to catch mackerel and herring to use for deadbaiting and i dont mind spending 1 day out of the 6-7 we will be boat fishing using dead baits all day..part of the fun even if cod being hauled in.

Your right Nets do do a good amount of gear when most do, shame its 16 miles from me or i go more often, my local is less than 1/2 a mile and thats Frasers, they have some gear at good prices but not much Norway gear.

ow and yes you are right i was told the same by many people so i am taken 10 leads, 10 pirks and a host of shads, that would last me 2 days wreck fishing but should last all week out there....if am short i will pay the little extra and get them from the tackle shop in the "town"

your on the ball buying gear already richy going to get mrs troyster on the case tonite or tomorrow chasing up flights and possibly accommadation for the 9th if needed in tromso or skjervoy. read somewhere thats what a party did in the past.

They would sort us the accom if requested on the 9th if required. Most the gear got now just need the bloody flights sorted out or its long drive to Heathrow and two flights or a million flights from Manchester etc.

Well i have purchased a few things, finished now thius is what i have got and i must say the Giant Storn shads catch me hands down, i would eat them :)
