Surface water still under 10 degrees.

I heard that one commercial found a pocket of mackerels and sells his catch repeatedly to the fish markets for good money....he wont tell where.

I have a slight feeling that we will wait longer than usual for the water to warm and the mackies to arrive in numbers.

My money is on second half of June

There was macks landed about 3 weeks ago at Hartlepool fish quay, been scarce since. Herring have been getting landed 5-6 weeks ago. Your right they get top dollar for early catches.
Haven't heard of any on the rod yet. I hope they don't show for another month yet !!!! Saying that, they could pop up this Sunday for the lucky lads..

think it was the esk star out of hartlepool must be well over 10 + year ago 200+ cod +haddock from sunken rig

I start to believe that we all talk about different things...

videos get posted with 3 cod in one haul and another one with boxes full of fish...

what I find remarkable is that the poster has lifted 100 cod from one wreck!?

We all know it happens that a charter gets >100 cod on a day out, even 200

but here we hear about 3 anglers getting 100cod from one stop!!

....and everyone here seems to think it happens all the time.

Meanwhile the last catch report on this forum dates 07th May

Done it a good few times over the years, was'nt on here at the time, right wreck at the right time and yeah the weather did seem more favourable back in the day.
