Off to the walkway for a few hours

There's been a few codling getting caught along the walkway along with dabs and flounders and whiting.

Good luck mate.

Somewhere down the river hopefully mate. Where would be best with these size tides? Didn't realise they were so big, only just checked lol. Me and a mate are wanting to head somewhere down the river though.

Hmm **** knows then. Any ideas of somewhere decent to bait fish from? We have some spare time this weekend so wanna get out haha.

When fishing the river fish the widest parts on the biggest tides such as.smiths dock etx and fish 2 hours either side of high or low water tide pull not as bad. on smaller and neap tides fish the narrow parts of the river.

I am going to try the walkway Friday mate see what it's like will let you know fish the tide up should be ok going out seems to pull you into snaggs

That would be spot on mate, make sure to let me know if you get any big ones lol. We were gonna head down at about 4.30 with high tide being 7.20 but probably we could probably just head down for 3ish and fish upto high tide.

You can still fish the walkway even on bigger tides. So long as you use a decent grip lead and cast up into the tide, let a large bow of line out and you should be fine. I very rarely lose any gear there aswell.... maybe 3-4 leads over the whole of last winter.

I wouldn't bother with Hebburn... with all the boat moorings you will struggle not to get tangled.

You can always fish the 44 mark on SSP. As it is behind the blocks the tide run doesn't effect you too badly so would be one of the better spots to try mate. Good luck wherever you go!

Ill just head down the walkway mate and use grip leads. Just hooked the mould out today so that will do nicely. Fingers crossed there is a few fish knocking about.

As Phil says, there are almost always fish there... I have never EVER blanked in maybe 75-100 trips over the years! Had some nice fish in the winter too but loads of smaller stuff this time of year. So long as you throw your lead up river / down river into the tide and let plenty spare line out the tide run should be manageable mate..... best of luck!!

Sound mate, cheers. Gonna get some rag and I may take some mackerel down as well on another rod to see how it goes.

Plenty flounder, dab, small whiting, small codling this time of year.... a few coley and the odd dogfish aswell..... even the odd guest appearance of a lobster!!

You will catch with anything mate..... loads of fish about... don't be scared to cast REALLY short or drop it down the side when the tide is in... Had a 3lb codling last winter on my spinning rod less than 5m out!!
