Is it beat to use grip leads or will the pull of the tide be ok? I'm heading down at the weekend.
Hmm **** knows then. Any ideas of somewhere decent to bait fish from? We have some spare time this weekend so wanna get out haha.
Walkway was a waste of time i had one cast and moved to ssp
and caught a few dabs
You can still fish the walkway even on bigger tides. So long as you use a decent grip lead and cast up into the tide, let a large bow of line out and you should be fine. I very rarely lose any gear there aswell.... maybe 3-4 leads over the whole of last winter.
I wouldn't bother with Hebburn... with all the boat moorings you will struggle not to get tangled.
You can always fish the 44 mark on SSP. As it is behind the blocks the tide run doesn't effect you too badly so would be one of the better spots to try mate. Good luck wherever you go!
As Phil says, there are almost always fish there... I have never EVER blanked in maybe 75-100 trips over the years! Had some nice fish in the winter too but loads of smaller stuff this time of year. So long as you throw your lead up river / down river into the tide and let plenty spare line out the tide run should be manageable mate..... best of luck!!
Plenty flounder, dab, small whiting, small codling this time of year.... a few coley and the odd dogfish aswell..... even the odd guest appearance of a lobster!!
You will catch with anything mate..... loads of fish about... don't be scared to cast REALLY short or drop it down the side when the tide is in... Had a 3lb codling last winter on my spinning rod less than 5m out!!
