I just bought a Shakespear Salt 15ft and am getting a penn 8000. Used rod rated at 4-8oz but very soft. The Triplex seems a much better rod 3 piece in red 16ft. My mate has one and seen one used on pier the other day (with multiplyer). Seem top dollar rods. Not sure about new and old models but the ones I have mentioned look very new. Cost £250 new.

Like nunthorpe says better suited these rods to clear mixed ground,

Mick.

my tt is going with me to Arbroath next week for some rock fishing

Have a red one (must be the old one) 16ft, use it in the summer with 6500 sized 1980's Abu. Spot on but isn't a rod I'd use in the wind. Use it for clean ground, flick it and it goes for miles. Have had plenty of mackerel (cork rigs) and tidal cod in the summer on clean ground. To me is a totally specialist rod for certain marks.

ive got 2 one 16ft and one 14ft they are great rods and i wouldnt part with them i have pulled cod to 6lb in with them and used them in norway on 5 different trips, for most fishing trips they are good to use. unless you are fishing really rough ground you wont go wrong with a triplex
