:red:After Sunderland they had to slow down even more: the river was narrower and the water shallower, with islands and sandbanks to negotiate. From time to time the boat had to cross from one side of the river to the other to find the deep channel. Charlie had never been to Sunderland befor and now he new why. It was like going back in time. A pale path followed much of the bank of the river, for horses to tow barges, its like living 80 years ago there was even a man in a red and white football shirt fishing from the river bank eating a raw Turnip. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Stay tuned for part two coming soon
