Left Amble at 8 o`clock on Upholder and headed out to the rough ground marks. Water was really clear, even in the river, so expectations were high. The fishing was steady from the start and soon everyone on board was catching, mainly small codling with nothing over the 4lb mark. Most fish were returned to grow into monsters, but everyone took a few keepers for their tea. My own tally was 12 caught with 2 kept. It was a really lovely day to be afloat, although the wind did pick up around midday, it didn`t last long and I couldn`t believe it when I got home and the missus told me it had rained for a while when she was in Ashington, because there was no rain at all where we were. All in all, another relaxing and most enjoyable days fishing.
Nearly forgot, there was no sign of any mackerel.

Nice report, seems we have a good amount of 1-4lb fish this year from the ground so if only half these make it to spawning size 2015 and beyond will look good.

The mackerel dont seem to be showing aywhere in the north of the UK at the moment, the south shoals have hit (always smaller fish) but the shoals we get from the north have yet to show up, just the odd few.

Anyway wish i was out there myself today so good on yer :)
