Anyone any idea where can get peeler from this time of year? Tried most local tackle shops with no success, any help would b appreciated as crab seem to b the most popular bait for cod at the minute.

crab baits are not the be all and end all , if you have no luck gaining crab just use what i prefer anyway fresh blacks and yellow tails

Cheers lads been using all baits but crab so far and not much luck, few whitings bowt as good as it gets, seems like most people are using crab to catch cod but suppose jus luck on the day, if I cn get hold of some then at least I cn say ive tried it

The rivers probs the best place to use ya crab, shields walkway etc...
in my opinion that is like...

Tried walkway nt friday gone but one before think u were there cos read catch report last week nd u were on bout it, lost most my tackle in the 3 hours I was there lol must b rope or something there, was fishing top end of it

peeler is top of the baits but its not the be all and end all in winter. i do well with big lug/mussel and lug/squid head cocktails on the open shore.
and i dont string all the lug up the hook length like most people. i'll put one or two on fully then head hook the rest or just lay them along side and whip them on then put some mussel along side them and whip the on. but i tip off with the squid head.
that said crab can be dynamite in the river.

I that was me lol invited my dad nd he goes way over the top lol wasnt too bad like give us bit shelter to eat our curry nd cuple cans! Nowt better on a Friday nite lol

Best to try different cod baits when you've got no crab. I used my last frozen crab on sunday in me club match on Sunday, so had to make do with big juicy shelfish baits last nite.
But, low and behold, a had a codling of 4lb 2ozs last nite just using a single yellowtail lug with a big sausage of razor at distance. Just goes to show you don't need to splash out on crab this time of year, coz with crab prices thesedays, especially in winter, your gonna burn a big hole in ya wallet.

all right mate ive had peeler from bait r us they come frozen with legs and shell still on some size of 10p coin pig to peel and remove lungs to be honest i wont buy them again got some from taylors on fri night much better quality
