Penn 515 mag

Just been reading some info about it on another site , due out next year. obviously there,s some competition for abu with there 5500 size reel, for angling or is it directed for tourno casting ,with mag conversion, the shop version i,m sure will be a seller......the 525 gs/mag/supermag/tmag is a success story and the 515 will no doubt be the same for light line ,ie under 15lb-0.35mm

to be honest mate i dont think it will beat the abu's got 525's for fishing and they all sound like a bag of hammers tried everything to quieten them down, maybe this one will be different??

have you not balanced the spools, they are a bit tight when they come out the box ,my old slidy runs smooth as silk

tried everything m8, allright otg but screem like banshees when swinging it and i cant stand noisy reels. tried all the usual tricks just wont have it must've been bad batch spools my fishing mate got same trouble

hi here matey, is it not your roufgh casting style try smoother casting style works a treat for me, i learnt my apprenticeship on the intrepid buccaneers,i think yo need a crash quick course casting lesson.

had a look at a 515 t mag today looks OK
DONT think they will go into production now shaky have penn in there pocket
there are 10 out there all made from 525 t mags with small spools fitted
into a chopped 525 cage and drive.

hi dave, that avet reel you have i like the look of that one i keep looking at them on ebay in america ,they do look realy well made just wish retrieve was a little faster, i got a email will be over two years of a 525 chopped down to the 515 size frame was cut in two and new spool made i wish i could remember who sent not sure if it was mark jakins,i suppose a 515 would be good choice for reel collection but i would be very suprised if the beat an abu for pure distance if thats what we are on about

keep all your fancy reels, heres one of mine. ----6500 c3ct sports rocket side plates, 5500 frame, mag elite handle, gary ramsden mag conversion, and it purrs like a pussy

hi there bill, reel looks like one of a mine a bit of this and that nowt wrong with it. garys conversions were very good very few people were doing them when gary was i thi nk he made a wheelchair for bazz so he could get down fishing mind you he could,nt think up for anything to chuck his gear out for him, yes gary was very good and in my opion a very good caster as well tried to help me one day but i did,nt listen silly me.
