Hi everyone,
Was just wondering if someone could tell me if it worth fishing for plaice in April up here?
I have heard they sometimes get caught of Sields Pier, can they be caught elsewhere, or am I better of just trying to catch cod?
Cheers,
Geoff

Wrong frum but yer, i had my best plaice fishing for "50" years lol last year, recorded over 40 from May-July and a cracker of 4lb 2oz..Shields or any clean beach does well.

I mean I want to try for them from my boat, but the pier is the only place I know they are caught. How do you catch yours and what kind of ground should I look out for?
Cheers,
Geoff

Had some nice ones years back on a boat a friend used to have, was just off Blyth's east pier (cambois pier) weren't far out and found we were drifting over rocks then onto clean sand - got cod over the rocks then the plaice once we were on the sand. Just using rag as bait.
