aye the first run is mental, its like tying a concrete block to ya line n throwing it in :p im pretty sure one of the ones i lost was a very decent fish too, played it for a few seconds and it had alot more weight to it! lesson learnt, and i defo need a new reel with better drag lol.

Some lovely fish there mate - anyone getting a 7 pounder as their first has got to be happy! And let's face it, the best fishing tales always revolve around "the one that got away"....I'm sure Alan & Sam would appreciate a report for their columns as there seems to be precious little else going on from the shore at the moment!

Gary :)

Supurb session lads and a great report and pics. It's a pity us mere mortals can't get on there to fish as I would love a piece of that action! Well done lads.

Nice fish Ozzy.... a lad had a lovely one today on a live launce floatfished off shields pier... its my catch report in the lure fishing section. Well done again mate.... nice to see the pictures to prove it so the jelous lads cant say your making it up.... lovely fish.

Great session lads as I said in the other post by Scotty.
By the way, don't ask for the other post to be deleted, let people make up their own minds who the numptys are;)

Superb fish I'm green with envy. Anyone who has had some experience of fishing for bigger pollock will understand just how scarily powerful these fish are. I also use 30lb mainline and 40lb hooklengths whilst fishing for them in Scotland. I've seen rods and line snapped by the first couple of runs. There are a few lads who fish for them and use 60lb braid on their spinning rods and set the drag tight to stop them getting near the bottom. As soon as your line touches the rocks on or near the bottom it's game over. I've solely concentrated on cod for years but as soon as I hooked my first decent pollock on light gear I became addicted. Top fishing lads, I'm sure there will be a double from you's if you persevere, just remember you'll probably lose more than you'll land!!

Is Tynemouth Pier for members only then? A Warden, what's that for?

Great report though.

pier closes at 8.30 and opens 7.30 in morning, warden is the pier attendant employed by the port of tyne, fishing banned at night time but lads climb round gate not for the faint hearted, there are 4 clubs who fish the pier at w/ends under strict rules and clubs have to be fully insured. davy.
