I reckon there\'s more off our coast than we think but the marks that would produce probably don\'t get fished a lot over the warmer months. A thought like. There\'s not that many off the wrecks in sunmmer though so maybe they are a bit few and far between. Hope this helps 
St Abbs to Eyemouth, Dunstanburgh Castle, whitley Pipe, during the summer. pollock now getting more numerous all along our coast especially from the piers. Pollock have turned up from many marks mainly by accident. some nice ones have to 8lb have turned up taken by anglers who have used the right tactics from many rock marks.

charlie there are tons on the wrecks but we dont fish for them and we spook them with big silly pirks
if you got all the guys on a boat to go over using light tackle and leads using gills and shads then you would see a lot of pollock but you always get one that wants to pirk and that spooks them

believe it or not there is conger in the river blyth, had 2 strappys from there,best place for them in the harbour is down next to the harbour masters office lobbing into the harbour side, but make sure you only lob it out about 20 yds as there is a lip which the conger hide under.the 2 i had from there were only about 8 -9 lb,even though they were small they put up a hell of a fight as soon as they get on top of the water.

Your right on there sean. Usually fish for pollock when i,m visiting the relatives on the south coast. everyone uses light tackle and redgills or flying collar rigs. always get loads of pollock

Regarding Conger, I was fishing Cullernose one day with my mate when my rod tip just bent over slowly, then pulled the rod straight out of the rest. When I grabbed hold, line was trickiling off my reel, but could I hell stop it. This went on for a good few minutes until whatever it was eventually bit me off.
The only things that makes me think against it being a seal is that the line was literally trickling off my reel, and that we\'d never seen a seal all day.

I have an interesting study taken at the water intake at Blyth power station, when it was there, there where two very large conger eels seen around the intake feeding off the other smaller fish. Would not be surprised if you fished around the staithes if you caught the odd one.
