Launched from Beadnell a couple of years ago and went down to Dunstonburgh Castle, we caught 15 Pollock to 8lb in 2 hours of flood , 500yds off shore.
We also catch Pollock into double figures from Berwick every year. As you say if you don\'t target them you won\'t catch them. Unlike Cod they feed by sight , so clear water and smaller attractive lures required. All the biger fish we get are within a mile of the shore.

Fish craster to dunstanbrugh every summer for the pollock and mackerel and use the right gear and theres plenty about. My best been 6lb and that was right down the side 1 hook baited with a slither of macky no wieght and drift in the tide. Plenty of fresh bait as well if your lucky.

believe it or not there is conger in the river blyth, had 2 strappys from there,best place for them in the harbour is down next to the harbour masters office lobbing into the harbour side, but make sure you only lob it out about 20 yds as there is a lip which the conger hide under.the 2 i had from there were only about 8 -9 lb,even though they were small they put up a hell of a fight as soon as they get on top of the water.
would love to get a decent 1 from the shore.

Pete I presume you are talking about Peeping Toms Rocks as you are\'nt allowed to fish off the Jetty in front of the Harbour Masters Office

I agree about pollock feeding by sight, I had half a dozen (to approx 1lb) from Dunstonburgh Castle on the Fly one afternoon. Casting over the kelp beds(just below the castle) with a Cats Whisker and White Fritz Lure.

Cracking fun, then casting from the end of the rocks over the marckeral shoals.... tremendous sport... long walk tho!!

Also Craster harbour is Full of small Pollock and Coalies during Augest/September, then they move out when the colder weather comes!

got to disagree, eats lots of em when we are up in scotland, they don\'t take quite as well to the usual deep fried abuse that most cod gets but personally I think they are an excellent eating fish

get used to em, cos give it another 5 years and that\'s all that\'ll be left for the chip shops
