There is a piece in one of the sunday papers about a boats catching an 8 foot Porbeagle in its nets. The shark was then sold to a fish mongers in North Shields. The porbeagle was rumoured to be caught 15 miles out from the mouth of the tyne. Has anyone heard any more about this?

A Porbeagle was caught in nets but this was a while ago dont know if its the same one as you refer to.

The shark was sold to a fishmonger the one next to Christians i think.
They then sold it to the public off a table outside of the shop like they used to. I seem to remember there was quite a queue and when you got to the front the fishmonger cutyour steak in front of you.I didnt try it though.

Next to the table on the floor they had its head in a box.

I was down the quay on friday teatime, I saw the head in the box on floor, not the best sight in the world, think I\'d rather see a shark swimming in the sea.

Thats the one, Keith. I just wonder if they could have got it out of the nets alive and released it. I,m like you in that respect, I would rather see them swimming out there than in a box on the quayside. Is it possible there are more out there?

I think sharks need to keep moving to stay alive??? so it may of been dead before it was landed. As long as fish mongers are gonna buy shark as a gimmick to get punters in their shop fisherman will cash in, can\'t blame them really after all they are out there to make a living.

for some reason they make a great deal of a porbagle caught in nets, which happens quite often, it was even on the tele. But the media wanted nothing to do with one caught on rod and line and returned.
