Proposed fund raiser event North east

Looking for feedback on a possible proposed fund raising event in aid of the Intensive care unit at Newcastle general.

Option 1. Will be to have a single one day event.

Option 2. To have a pairs knockout event.

At the moment i am only putting the feelers out to see which type of event would be the most popular choice.

The knockout event if chosen will be a case of get yourself a partner pay your dues for the first round say £5 per team and get matched up with another pair of lads to arrange the venue and time of your match. There will be no winnings to be had from each individual round, only the option of buying into round two £5 per team and trying to keep winning.

The single 1 day event speaks for itself really, no different to any other match.

The whole idea of the comp is to raise money for the ICU and to get out and about fishing with different folk. In light of this it is proposed that 50% of all monies raised will be donated, the remainder paid out in prize money.

There are no rules and regulations drawn up for either event yet, just let me know which if any event you would be most likely to participate in. Cheers.

It has been suggested already that 100% should be donated to the funds and maybe a nice trophy or two for the winners.??

At the moment its early days and just need to know which will be best option to get you's involved.

Discussions and suggestions welcome.

122 views and 1 piece of feedback...have all you lads thrown the towel in, or just too miserable to socialise for a worthy cause

That should create some debate :D

just got back into fishing after a few yr out and would love to participate. ive always fancied winning a trophy. anyway why not just abandon all matches donate all the money and give the trophy to me .....save you all a load of trouble and time. hehe

A worthy cause for sure. Collect the cash in, buy the trophies and donate the entire pot. Mind you I'm sure if the right people were contacted the trophies would be donated. After all you'll only need 2. I'm interested and I'm sure I could get a dozen or so from work to take part. I'll keep my eye on this thread. When do you have in mind? After the Mackey bashers have gone would be a starting point.:D

i dont shore fish ed,but it will be a cold day in hell if i cant find a tenner in wor lasses purse for your cause:exclam::exclam:

Thanks for some positive feedback lads :) It would be great if yous could also coax some extra people along to also take part as and when it is finalised, thats great.

So far the 1 day event is getting the nod and 100% of the monies raised to be donated. I will do my best to try and grovel some kind of donations from the tackle shops and if anyone else has something that they could donate please let me know on this thread or via PM if you wish to remain unknown.

As of yet a venue and a date is still to be arranged, i will get a look at the match scene and see what is most suitable, the less clashing with other events the better obviously.

Toying with the idea of calling it "The Cock of the north" Sea angling fundraiser 2011. Any comments or suggestions on that ?

"Mr Charlton and Mr Harris" if you's are reading this, would it be ok to rely on your services of a little promotion as and when the need arises?

I will add to this post and other forums as we progress. Cheers lads.

no problem will give it as much publicity as I can and will also pass it on, sure Sam will do the same. Depending where and when I will come and do the weighing in, before anybody says anything, yes I am only after the unwanted fish.

bet you hoping someone weighs in a load of mackerel:D:D:D:D

A provisional date at the moment is looking like Oct 9th, so got approx 10 weeks to get it sorted, times and venue to be decided, If anyone knows of any conflicting matches on this day could you please let me know. Should we all line one beach or should it be an open? Heaviest fish heaviest bag seems the simplest way forward and Mr Charlton has offered his services for that. I am awaiting a reply for a certain early morning registration and weigh in venue and will let you's know ASAP. Hopefully will get some posters and tickets in the tackle shops a couple of weeks beforehand. If anybody can help with the sorting of tickets it will be a great help.

I'l have a word with Andy Copeland and see if i can get their youngin to sort some artwork out for a poster, he works for times warner so i might get one with Lightning Mqueen on :D

If any of the tackle shop owners that frequent this site can help out in any way please dont be shy and speak up, we know times are hard we are all feeling the pinch but with a bit of luck this will chuck some lads through the doors and cement your names throughout the region as any donors will be publicised for the event.

Now...it is a fundraiser and as such the idea is to raise as much funds as possible so...what figure should we suggest lads "donate" in order to take part As mentioned above times are not the easiest they have been, and the last thing we want is for people to be put off attending because 1 they cant afford it and 2 because there is no winnings to be had. I will do my best to get some prizes together but can not promise anything at this moment. Myself personally suggests that £5 a man/woman/bairn is donated to take part however each individual can if "they wish" donate more. That is my thought on it, what do you's think

I would prefer an open with boundaries possibly icehouse to amble pier. the only problem i see with the date though is that its going to be fishing all of the flood as low waters at 07:58 which means people wanting to fish rock marks are not going to get very long on them if the match starts at like 9. Also would be happy with the £5 suggestion.

Need to remember though that we are hoping to attract lads from Boro maybe even north yorkshire right the way up to Berwick if we can, so the boundary may need to be set lower also, and there are plenty of marks that fish or at least should fish a couple of hours either side of HW. Thanks for the reply though mate and i hope whatever is decided you will participate;)

Count me in mate.....As its for a very worth while cause lets get as many as we can to join in and is there any chance you can get some free publicity from any of the local newspapers to increase the numbers.Any chance of getting local tackle shops to sponsor the event and a donate a few small prizes for the winners so ALL of the pot can be donated. Just a thought i had for a title for it........."The ICU Open 2011" Sea angling fundraiser or "Fish For Pride Open 2011" ICU Sea Angling Fundraiser.
