Question about big seas

Hi folks. Went up to Hadston tonight, the sea was massive. Had one cast but it was a nightmare. Not holding the bottom etc. I was wondering, when its like this, is it worth persevering or would I be wasting bait? Do the fish tend to stay offshore when it is so rough? Still have the bait in the fridge hoping the sea may ease off for tomorrow night.

keep an eye on the forcast wait till it drops off maybe not so much weed etc i fished less swell areas today lower tyne and had codling and coalies every cast some codling made size

always best to fish in a dying sea, you need to have your witts about you, keep an eye on the sea when fishing, if you feel uncomfortable, dont fish, you can easily be caught out.

but if you watch the weather reports and catch the sea right, you can have an amazing session.

best to use crab, razzor, mussel, makerel rag or lug, squid. thats the norm that i take with me
worms can keep well in the fridge, remove any dead or ****ty worms, keep them separate, they can fish well in the rough seas ;D

razzor fish, makerel, mussel, squid etc can all be frozen.

i like to use stinky mussel and razzor for rough sea session ;D

hadston and the surrounding areas fish well during a rough sea, normally during the hours of darkness. just make sure you tell someone where you are going and what time you are due back, just because its the summer dosnt mean the sea is safe.

In the summer up the coast u want the sea to be flat, shorts and tea shirt weather.

Red codling don't want to be bumped around in the swells.

Dying sea wanted in the winter in the weed beds.

Cheers for the info, the sea was a bit wild yesterday at Hadston. Think I will have a drive down to the beach today to check it out, the wind seems to have dropped anyway.

If the sea is to big at Hadstone try around the corner at Hauxley and
Whitehouse Sands these marks will normally handle any sea.

I will mate. Hadston is my regular mark but I havent fished Whitehouse Sands before, normally I go just south of Bondi, or near the Gusher. Going to check out Blyth beach today next to the pier, I think it might be a bit more sheltered than other open beaches.

At Blyth of late i have noticed that the part of the beach opp the bandstand is always a bit calmer then the rest of that part of the coast

I know it sounds like I'm repeating myself here but fishing in a sea or dying is not the best conditions for Red codling, wrasse etc...from the rock edges and kelp jungles.

Therefore u need to be fishing very sheltered areas and calm water. It's the complete opposite to winter fishing.

winds droping seas easing nows the time to go tonight on a good rock mark might pick up a nice codling if your lucky
