question about horden

hi guys, theres a feature on horden beach that has me puzzled, basically its a good upwelling of water i see from the clifftop, the area is just below the carpark were you access from the tip road near grants houses, seen it a few times now on high water and the surface really boils, on the beach there is from what i can see a flat concrete structure that goes into the water - is it just a waste water outlet ??

The bubbling you can see is a waste water outlet. They have tried repairing it a few times, but when they do we get some bad weather and it's destroyed again. It's warm water that gets pumped from there. The slab you are on about is 20yds south of it. Couldn't tell you what it's off but its been there ages.

Ahh but it does have it's advantages though. At low water you can see it cuts a trench into the sandbar. It leaves loads of deep undulations in the sand which obviously gather food items, and I think thats why I have caught so regularly from there this season. The place seems to be teeming with pipefish this year also. The 2lber I had last night was full of them.

yeah fished a few marks there, rarely totally blank - then again aint fished durring the day yet :D just a shame there aint more access to vehicles than at blackhall

my preffs at night, or at least in the dark, get to know the beach a bit before i attempt the trak down there in the dark, south over the stream aint bad having done that a few times in the dark now :D

the northend of the beach always fishes better until march then the fish move on the sand at the south end.The pipe is a out let from the pit and the big concret slab is the footing for the flight from the pit theres another one about 100yrd out at sea but you can only see it on a big tide.

you can get a long to the pipe with a 4x4 on the back road but dont go any further as it gets abit softer.

thanks for the info on the road way, looking from the top carpark above the pipe i noticed that big area of wet before you get to the pipe, thought that would be near impassable-hence never tried it, will have to get the garmin gps sorted and track the road in the day so i dont go for a mud dip at night

its does get soft there but as long as you dont stop it will keep going. I got all the way to sean last nite in 2wd and he was just north of the pipe. if you want me to show you the road in day light just gives a shout i will also show the marks on the way along.

appreciate that allan, i`m off back to merseyside this weekend though, my youngest 18th a week monday ( 18th) plus hes hoping to get in the army soon as well so it will have to be durring this week or after the weekend as it may be some time before i bget to see him if he does

decided to waste some bait tonight as the fog had cleared, got there for midnight, stayed till 3 , nothing not a bite or bait being taken, fished below were you get onto the beach - bloody cold, handwarmer in each trouser pocket to stop the family jewels falling off :D
