Question for the Kayo guys

Depends on a lot of factors wind, tide strength in relation to the wind ,depth of water etc. I tend to take a selection again depending on where i will be fishing, usually 5oz general to 10oz if i am fishing shads,Dont loose many weights in the yak as if fast on bottom paddle bak over snag to release........Dave.

We use 14oz as a standard sometimes in quiet water with little drift a 10 or 12oz would do ... But would recommend 14

Cheers

Norm

Never use anything more than 10oz, if you cant hold bottom with a 10oz its too fast to fish the wrecks and for the rough ground just fish until your line starts to go away then wind in and drop down due to the shallow water.

weights for yak

As DT1 says - a lot depends on conditions. I fish from the yak and boat and almost always need less weight on the yak. The drift must be slower. Also, on the yak I tend to use a drogue if its a bit windy which slows you right down. There's loads of info about using drogues from a yak on the anglers afloat proboards site.

I rarely use anything over 6oz on the yak - nice light fishing :)
