question on direction

my mate is after some directions to the old ashworks/chemical plant at Steetly as he wants to go bottle digging. any info would be much apreciated. many thanks

Sorry can't help Mark, but if you can get a post code nearby you could plan a route at The AA: Car Insurance, Breakdown Cover, Loans, Motoring Advice, Travel and Maps

come down the a19 come off at the first hartlepool turn off (just south of castle eden) heat towards hartlepool keep going across the roundabouts and head towards headland keep the cemetary to the right at the end of this road he will come to a roundabout with a tunnel and railway embankment infront of him with shops on the right. Park near the shops or the pub and cross over the road go through the tunnel and walk up the bank the old works are straight in front of you look for the last chimney.

suggest you park here and not up by the works as if you are out of sight you may get your car done in = safer here.

the directions are the same if going to the pier for a bit of worm drowning just walk a bit further through the works.

I think it's the A179 turn-off,you can park opposite the parade of shops.I park outside the chippy when I go to the steetley.(Not to pick up wet fish on the way back mind lol)
It's only a 5 min walk to the "Thunderdome",very mad maxish.,that old site.

been down there today fishing - the bottle dump is just through the tunnel - was talking to some guys and they recon the best bottles may have been found as they were there today digging with a jcb- he also said they do not know the extent of the dump so there maybe more bottles. About a dozen people there.
