quick question

whats this bait cart am hearing people mention. is it any gud n where sells it. any info much appreciated cheers:

It's the inside of edible crab. It's hard to keep on your hook from what I gather. Some people use finger gauze, others wrap it in cling film nd pierce the film as it goes on the hook. Good cod bait. Illegal to use north of the Tyne I think (never seen the cart cops though). Haven't seen it in many shops but av never really looked. As for the quality I think people tht use it tend to make it them selves. This might be wrong but it's what I've picked up from other threads, never used it or seen people use it yet. If anyone knows a shop with decent cart that they've used please shout up.

Hi mate.

cart is basically bits of mashed up edible crab inside, frozen and wrapped like a sausage in a thin plastic tube (like clingfilm) but its not sealed at the ends. Its not a bait I use often as I've never had much success with it. Its a great bait when fishing the rocks in rough conditions, as it has loads of scent that will release into the rough water and tempt those coddies!!!

Its best to use finger gauze or bandage to use this bait as its very gloopy when defrosted, so I wrap it in that to hold the bait in, it also presents the bait better on the hook.

You could also use Fox Bait Gauze to do the same thing, but it'll save you quite a few pennies just to use normal finger gauze...

If anyone knows a shop with decent cart that they've used please shout up.

Reelsport, Dean Road, South Shields. Got my cart from there and was great, nice long fat sausages of it. He also stocked the big square pallets of the stuff, but dunno if theres any of that left...

its only the under topshell stuff thats best lovely and red pouches ,some places will mix other part of the crab meat in it and shell just to boost the weight up ,i got some from a online tackle dealer which i made up some sausage gauzes ,wasnt same colour as some ive seen but still fished with it one night and had a codling a cast ,even hoying same bait back out

Cart will outfish any other baits at certain times,it always fishes best in rough ground.
Some of the cart sold in tackle shops is just the inside of any edible.
It needs too have the red berries in from a hen crab to fish well.
