Decided to go and drown a few worms last night (real reason was to escape my daughter's 13th birthday sleepover party with her 8 mates) and given recent lack of fish on the beaches went to the Rat House at Roker. Armed with lug, rag, crab and mackeral I fished from low water (8pm) until 1am. I really wasn't expecting anything but ended up with 3 good sized coalies, a dinner plate size flattie and, at long last, one of those elusive codling (about 2lbs and caught on rag). All in all a very enjoyable session. When I got back home the party was still going and they all insisted on seeing the fish - not sure they will want to do that again!!!
