Record breaking shark off coast of Ireland

should this have been killed ??????

Picture868.jpg

i foul hooked it in the tail with a spinner with 10lb mono
but the drag on the reel was good enough to tame it
hahahahahahhaa

sorry to change the direction of this thread but whats the story of that fish sless, did you catch it and where was it etc etc

1.056lb of shark, 35 minute fight, me thinks something was not right with the shark, but still a travesty killing such a wonderful creature.

it was caught by an angler from a charter boat in
downings
donegal
adrian malloy(tuna king)
was the skipper
it weighed 750 lb
the lad who caught it was getting interviewed so i sneaked in and had me photo took
there was a wagon on the pier waiting to whisk it away
the lad paid £400 to fish that day
and the skipper kept the money it sold for
who said the irish are thick
seemingly it went for a few grand

As I understand it they are not renown for their fighting charecteristics. I think it was Ian Burrett who was telling me about a day targeting them in the med at stupid depths and he said it was one of the most boring days shark fishing he has ever had.

I know they have very little fighting qualities, but even the weight of 1,000lb plus shark being pulled in by a 73 year old in 35 minutes. But you never know.
