Daiwa Salist STTLW20HA (levelwind).
Shimano TLD 15.
Are these two reels if put side by side more or less the same size.

Would like to thank everyone for their input. Now armed with all the information so freely given I can now come to a more educated decision on which reel to purchase.

Hi, The Diawa weighs 16.2 oz and the Shimano weighs 16.5 oz, i've never seen the 2 reels side by side but i would inagine there won't be a great deal of difference in size and going by past experience i would go for the Shimano TLD15.....Hope this helps........:)

Dont buy a Penn, dont buy a Penn, if you do buy a Penn dont expect to ever get it fixed or hear back from the "main dealers" ow did i mention dont buy a Penn.

Salist if you have the cash, last you a lifetime

Shamano tried and tested good reel.

Been using Shimano Charter Special 2000 for the last 2 years, cant fault it at all, great for shadding, very similar to Tld 15 but with level wind.

Good luck,
Russell

I'll give you 2 guesses which one I would go for......

thats what the airport policeman said to me one time when i was coming through Aricife airport, we had the whole place stopped while we talked fishing and tackle, even got the guy looking at the x ray machine to come and join us, they showed me on a big map where they got there big snappers.

:Daye norm.ive seen/heard a few people squealing when they been snagged, tried to snap it out holding the spool and the level wind comes across and nabs their finger:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

In my opinion there's no need for a level wind, I never cast out just straight up and down so there's no need to have the line perfectly level, just another thing to go wrong. I'm pretty sure the level wind will slow the retrieve rate down as well.
