hi lads can anyone help me i have a old abu 7000 i have took the level wind off cogs abd everything but now the bar is in the wrong place and am lefr with two holes any sugestions?

If its the same as the old 7000,7000c, 7000c3 re-fit the bar but not the drive gears which are in the left hand side plate or you could fit a conversion bar, fittng a conversion bar will allow you to remove the top bar so you can wrap your thumb further around the spool allowing a better grip for casting

When that bar`s fitted, you can cut off the top bar I think Phil, as Bandit suggested.

never thought about trying to re attach the bar great help lads think a heavy duty bar would be better seems a bit flimsy the level wind bar

For the cost of the proper conversion bars, you may as well fit one to keep the reel as sturdy as possible

yes, you need to get a conversion bar. the one i got was stainless steel. [cant remember where from]

once fitted its easy to cut away the top bar and gently file the ends into a small dome.

you can get replacement plugs but you,ll need to drill the reel to fit them.

The level wind bar will be ok as long as you don't remove the top bar, if you want to remove the top bar you will need to fit a conversion bar as the cage will be weakend and twist.

If you cut the level wind bar you can also get some caps for the ends which look like this. I have some spare if you want a couple.

Give Blackdog tackle a ring russ does all the conversion bars as far as I'm aware.

done loads phil easy peasy as said you can get everything you need from blackdog very helpful bloke russ .

i can imagine andy rutherford having everything you need also and will show you there and then what to do.

there brilliant mate they have a shop
on ebay!! much better than an expensive
bar!!
