Just wondering if anyone has used Whale Spit to lube there reel ?
I normally use rocket fuel but its took off somewhere,so \'i\'ll have to buy some new lube on Sat or Mon,
Everyone just use the same (rocket fuel) lube?any advice or alternative tips apprieciated.

Hi Alan.
Bought some whale spit a while back from Billys and used it in the Penn 525. I had wanted some red rocket fuel but Billy didnt have any so I got the whale spit. Its not good at slowing the reel down as its a bit thin but on the whole its pretty good stuff.

I use car engine oil which slows down fast multipliers brilliantly. Different consistencies give different results, use sewing machine oil to thin down if too thick.

Also rememberthe weather changes the way oil behaves, very cold weather will slow down your reel. I tend to thin my oil out a bit in Winter. Spend time developing your own mixture to your casting style, less time worrying about performance is more time spent enjoying fishing. ;)

i wanted to speed mine up a bit,it started slowing down back end of last season, going to strip it down and see wht the crack is,i might end up servicing it then have to slow it down,no big deal though, should have done it in the spring, got a 525 mag that just keeps on going and going,don\'t use it as much as me slosh though.

Whilst on the subject, does anyone know if Red Rocket Liquid Grease has the same effect on slowing the reels down as Red Rocket fuel itself ?
