Referendum - too close to call?

It's a crying shame the Scottish Government still won't admit that salmon farming has played a major part in the collapse of wild sea trout stocks on the west coast since the 1980s. The greedy b**tards never will either

Do you mean Salmon or Salmond farming? :)

Not sure why you are exclusively blaiming the Scottish Governerment in this matter as it was founded in 1999??

Thankfully there are still more salmon about than Salmonds :D

I understand what you're saying but they've still had the last 15 years to do something about it but they'd rather sweep the problem under the carpet, take the money and side with the salmon farming industry.

You are right, in that 15 years is way too long. However the Scottish Government announced a review of Salmon farming earlier this year. Now I am totally sceptical of government reviews in general, but it is better than the UK government ever managed in a much longer time frame - just!

Well I'm a southerner living in the north,so if you've got more in common with the jocks than say me a man of Kent why not you disappear over the border fishing mark.
You want to try living in the south on average wages and everything being more expensive

I'm quite happy living in the North East thanks. Wouldn't fancy living in the South on any wages. Best part of the country by a mile the North East, that's why I live here. I will disappear over the border quite regularly as I do now, yes vote or not.

Better wages than here in the North east and that's a fact

Considering I was born down south as you call it Outkast 76 and have work all over the uk,I'm afraid you are ill informed.
Maybe the people working in London, but the vast majority are not all hooray Henry's ,you believe too much of what ya read in the press (RUBBISH)

The problem with looking at "average wages by region" is that it tells you almost nothing. For instance the South East does indeed have the highest average, or "mean" wage in the country, but that is skewed by the numbers of extremely high earners which pushes up the average and is no indicator of what the "ordinary" worker earns. Equally, in a high unemployment area like the North East or Scotland, the non earners pull down the average or "mean" and again is no indicator of what the "ordinary" worker earns. Far better to look at the "Median" wage, the wage that is in the middles or the "Mode" wage, the one that occurs most often.

This still shows the South East wage to be higher than the North East and Scotland, but the difference is much less. When you factor in the South East cost of living, I would rather live in Scotland or the North East on a mode or median wage than the South East any day.

Kayos come on, this post is a step too far, it doesn't even have anything to do with the Independence vote.

You need a new hobby, or maybe hobby horse would be more accurate!

Tomorrow at 10pm can't come soon enough for me. Finally the polling stations will be closed and Kayos can take a breath!!

Thank God I am in my own house, as he would be a nightmare to live with this week!!

Codqueen.

PS I am busy this weekend, so go drinking or something and gie's peace. :D

Well with 500,000 mainly English people living in Scotland set to vote and 750,000 Scots living in England unable to vote, our goose is cooked!

Ah the irony of the English shaping Scotland's future...................... done up like a kipper.......................again!

Nevertheless I set my alarm early to avoid the queues, what an exciting day a life changing day - Tunnock's Caramel Log 6 packs and a case of Irn Bru, both 2 for the price of 1 in Asda...............I'm off to stuff my face, then drown my sorrows!
