Respect

the wear marks are some of the worst, odd occasion i will ffish the rathouse in winter storms and will spend an hour tidying up before i even fish......the walkway at shields can be bad ,not half as bad as the wear though.....does get worse in the summer......its embarrassing as people walk past thinking you have left all the mess......might be an idea for the anglers to get together for a day, regardless of what forum and having a day litter picking, maybe get the council involved......people might respect anglers a bit more if they are seen to be doing there bit....at the minute we are all tarred with the same brush

To be honest I can't really see a days organised litter picking being organised with or without the councils co-operation . Having said that if anyone was to grab the bull by the horns and organise it you can count me in.

Good Luck on organising the litter picking day. But it will be like a Dodo it will never get of the ground.Remember suggesting a similar thing to a club, before the ban. Tohelp keep a lower Tyne estuary mark clean of angling litter, fell on deaf ears at the time.

It is terrible but a lot of time it's monkey see monkey do.

Younger children are fishing by themselves and they see older people litter and think it's acceptable.

It's a shame that children are being taught how to fish, but not how to be fisherman.

Anglers and danglers

Anglers and danglers

I Find you can tell the difference between anglers and danglers by how much litter they leave and how much of an asbo they can make of them selves, They should insert a devive that scocks litter louts so they stop leaving litter!!

I dont mind getting mucked in,seems to be a few people interested, seems like everyone stopped posting about the mess when i mentioned doing something about it:D:D........If there are any anglers serious about doing something about the mess on our coastline, then maybe it is worth considering organising, few names there allready, shall we say if we get 20 names down we go for it..............I dont mind giving up a day to have a wander along the coast.....might find a few marks while i am out;)

Was on shields pier yesterday and there was a couple of guys next to us fishn one of them got up off the bench and threw his crisp and sarnie packet in the sea then sat back down on the bench right next to the litter bin. you could have stretched your arm out without getn up and dropped it in bin, its amazing how used people get to just throwing the rubbish in the sea now they dont even look for a bin even if its at arms stretch

Count me in bud owt to keep the beaches clean and bad press away from us fishermen.

I think 3 or 4 people are not going to be an organised days litter picking so today i took 2 carrier bags along the wear bank and filled them and took them home tomorrow i will do the same. I must say it surprised me how little crap there was, but some of it had been there for so long it was half buried.
