Might be a question that's been asked a thew times .
What rigs do you find most effective ?

What size hooks are you putting on them ?

Do yous use different rigs at different marks ?

Bomber rig size 2 hooks, for summer then winter wise it'll be straight pulleys with 3/0 5/0 mantas

2 hooks in summer with bling if plaice the target. Clipped if distance matters flapper if it doesn't. Pulley Pennels for rough ground and especially in autumn/winter, Long and low for clean ground or rivers. Not always dead long snoods but I like that presentation with the snood attached down by the lead. I also suspect but not sure that longer snoods help in flow from river or tide. Get a bit of flowing trace presentation. Any thoughts on that ? 4 to 1/0 in summer and 3/0 in winter with a 2/0 on the pennel. Always use a rotten bottom lead attachment in rough or even mixed ground. Its no hassle really and much better to lose a lead than a rig. Hope this is helpful.

I haven't been fishing long, and Im still learning everytime im out, but i have tried loads of different rigs and the one i've had nearly all my fish on, and the one im going to stick to, is the 1 hook flapper!

4' rig length, 2' amnesia snood (fitted in the middle of the rig, so 2' above the weight), 3/0 pennel.

I like it really simple, and it works for me.

Ive found the most important part of the rig is the bait presentation! A sloppy, flappy lump of bait or a tangled rig will feed the fish, but doesnt hook them.

2 hook flapper, or a simple paternoster, no time for pulley rigs as i find the
bite detection crap, rotten bottom always.
It'll be just your luck for a monster to get hung on the lead, even smooth
beaches have hefts !

The main 2 rigs I use are the pennel pulley rig 5/0 and 3/0 hook size and a 1up / 1down clip on rig had great results using both rigs

agree keep it simple,ideal for rough ground,but if your beachs or clean ground you cant go wrong with a two hook flapper with 2/o or 3/o hooks in winter,and 1 or I/o in summer. davy.

I always go for a pulley regardless of rough ground, which is obviously what they are designed to fish.
I prefer a 4/0 hook, a 5/0 will do.

Only time I ever differ is during the summer down the beach I find a 2 hook flapper is better for the smaller fish - e.g whiteys, collies, dab...but also for the odd ray that shows up.
But I dont fish much off shore locally during summer, tend to venture to SW Scotland for pollock and bass on lures

Clean ground: 2 hooks flapping, one up, one down. sizes 1 - 3/0

Rough stuff: pulley. Size 2/0 - 4/0

Most of my winter fishing is done with pulley rigs 2/0 - 4/0 wide gape hooks. Sometimes use a dropdown rig but mainly pulleys. Not everyone likes pulley rigs but each to their own

Don't tend to fish locally through the summer any more but when I did I used 2 hook flappers and clip down rigs, size 1 and 2 hooks.

35lb main line on to a 3 way 1/0 swivel, straight on to your lead, 2ft snood clipped on with a split link (or the like) for patting, hang hook on lead grip and fire out...(don't forget there at your feet) totally convinced that most snags are hook snags and if you keep your snood lb below main line you only lose a hook (cheaper than a lead even if you make your own). only my observations on the marks I fish so wont apply all over...fish your mark often and you will sharp suss it out. hope this helps... good luck, its almost doubled my catch rate compared to bling.

2x hook loop rig in summer & winter with 3,0 or 4,0 manta's or kamazan uptides on 2ft snoods.
or a pully with a 3,0 single hook in summer or an up & over rig with a 4,0 & 3,0 pennel up2 3ft long in winter, i find the long snoods better in the slack tide & start of the flood clean or rough ground.

Heavy rock/ kelp I fish with simple 1 hook paternoster
Piers/beaches pulley pennell 1/0 - 5/0

I also have a few pulley droppers to nail the bait to the sea floor
Wishbone clipped down for plaice and flappers for whitings
