Rod type for St Abbs

Planning trip to St Abbs as been wanting to go for months then after seeing a post on here its made me more determine to get up there & try my hand at a bit lure sport.
Question i need answer to is what gear is best suited?????
Got a great 6ft baitcaster rod/ reel set up loaded with 15lb braid, casting weight up to 45grams or do i need something bit heavier???
Have old ryobi 8ft spinning rod with okuma reel, 30 / 40grams casting weight but rod is alot bulkier & stiffer. Dont want to take wrong gear although may take spare rod in car. Great to hear your thoughts .

If targeting pollock a little stiffer don't go a miss as when the bigger 1s hit you will have to put pressure on t bully em out l8ly a been using a rt Tyrone 40 -100 gm n landed em t round 5 lb and still flik a lure 30-40 yards 18gm no prob how ever no need t buy just go with the heavy ov the 2 all b bak up there soon too gud luk

a simple bass rod will do all ya need ,spinning ,floating or even ledgering

think me pike rod might be a bit big as it's 13ft

i always use my bass ford its 12 ft but canot chuck 3-5oz i use it for float fishing etc.

I use a daiwa sea hunter bass rod, a good all rounder and casts up to four oz when you need a bit more distance. I was reading recently about someone using a baitcaster set up for pollock and said it worked very well, cant remember where I read it tho'

Hi m8 I am going up to Eyemouth and St Abbs in the start of August and i just use my 13 and a half foot zziplex and had no problems with it as yet and its even better when you need that extra distance too so to me its not the size of the rod its how you use it okay m8

Light spinning gear, you need to be able to hold it all day, distance isn't an issue as the fish are usually at your feet. Good luck
