Well you had more luck than me & Dave. I fished from about 8.30pm till about 11pm at the Barrier then moved up towards the end where it was blowing a hooley so moved back down. Spend all night tying shock leaders. Didnt see many fish about like

If you going to fish the barrier forget shock leaders, get yourself something like an Abu 7000 loaded with 40lb line, use rotten bottoms and use separate hook traces with 30 lb line, that way if you do loose anything it's only the sinker or hook trace, and if you've got plenty made in your rig wallet you'll only be out of the water for a minute or so ;)

was using rottom bottoms but was kept geting snapped off at the shock leader knot

If you were using trace strength stronger or the same as your main line it'll happen when your getting caught up in the weed, you don't need a big chuck on the barrier so use a reel loaded with heavy line and a little lighter trace and sinker line, it's heavy ground there and fishing with a shock leader isn't advisable.

Well done on the Cod. Must have been 100 on there last night, not many coddies though.

Me and CPK1979 on there last night 5pm -10pm. Fished between the steps. First 3 casts snagged and lost gear. Swithched into the bay, and as soon as the tide started to flood, in came the YT's. Some decent ones amongst them. Kept a few for fish cakes. So the wait for my 1st cod of the season continues.

Coming off I spoke the bloke who caught the bass. Must have been fishing in about 4 foot of water. Looked just about sized, but it had a belly like mine!
