Fished just along from the barrier today around high water. Rag, Black lug and frozen crab but only caught one whitey around size and returned.
Strange thing is it was rattles and bumps on the tip near enough every cast but they were just not developing and couldn't hook anything.
That seems strange because on other venues when that happens smaller species seem to hook themselves, even on big baits.
This has happened to me a few times on Roker now and I don't know why. Any ideas ?
Used a pulley pennel and made sure both hook points exposed.

Was your trace coming back clean?There are loads of crabs about.

Bait ragged every chuck mate, but the bites looked like fish you know, fast sharp pulls and digs. Never came back with a crab hanging on.

I was on boghall the other night and had a similar experience mate I put it down to getting pulled around the rocks sometimes and big crab other times

It has been said that a diver was killed when a 6oz weight hit him on the head whilst diving off the pier and it is his ghost that keeps taking the .... Out of the fisherman its only a rumour but i am a believer
