Roker Pier 9lb Cod Fri 20th

Cracking fish made and hats off to you for the release not allot of north east anglers would have done that amazing fish for this time of year well done mate.

Thanks for all the replies lads and sorry about the miserable mush in the picture. I was thrilled to catch that fish and can still imagine and feel myself winding it in. It surprises some anglers that I returned it! but I don't eat much fish myself, my parents do and I already had two fish out for their dinner plate. My main reason was that I assumed it was full of roe. The pictures don't give a true indication of the size of its underbelly and it looked and felt like it was full of eggs and for me releasing it back was the right decision. I have to point out that I was lucky enough to catch a cod a little heavier than this one last year and I kept it for eating. :)

Regards Rushy

spot on mate:D your a true angler! top man:):)
sometimes in this sport you have to think of the implications of choices:)
its great it was caught by a experienced angler such as yourself because a more inexperienced angler would not have noticed that and have had that in the pan like a shot:)

I'd like to add my congrats to those previously offered by others.

Nice fish indeed, and good to see other anglers are returning their catch sometimes.
