rough ground hooks

Starting to fish rough ground a little bit more this year to hopefully get some better fish and usually use 4/0 540 manta extras, but been told they dont bend out of snags and that the mantas are only good over clean ground. So I am after some recommendations for new hooks to try out which will bend out of snags and save me a bit of gear but be strong enough to land a decent fish, if i ever hook one.

i use mantas with no problems you just need to check the points on them. i aslo use kamasan uptides or gamakatsu all in 4/0.

i use cox & rawle uptide extras, the best hooks iv'e used by far. really sharp and they keep their points well, and if they do lose their point they can be sharpened.

old faithful mustard viikings 3s 4s 5s used for thirty years ,but have been impressed by sakuma manta in all sizes very sharp .

i would agree wth this post whitley bay lads have used them for yrs,also i think these modern fast retrieve reels dont do hooks any justice myself bring back the old 7000 and 9000 abu.
now i expect a bit flack.

Another vote for the Mustad Vikings 79515 from me too, I also use the Mustad "bigeye" 90721.
I like these patterns because they bend, with pressure, out of the snags and kelp. With these hooks and good simple rigs you can fish in the rough stuff and lose very little gear.

I know that the Sakuma's are popular with some very good anglers but they are not for me, although they are very sharp I find them brittle and prone to snapping.
I also think that the modern trend of having very small barbs on hooks is a bad idea over the rough ground. A couple of winters ago at Whitburn, I got fast up with a good fish and had to give it some line with the result that the fish shed the hook, a modern small barbed pattern.
This is just my opinion though for what it's worth.

had sakumas and kamasans bend more so on the uptide patterns...and thats me using 18lb line with shockleader..

Kamasans B940's are the best I have found and I wont use anything else. Never managed to snap one yet. Needless to say I snapped both Mustards and Sakumas. Dont buy imitation Kamasans either as they are useless.

4,0 sukumas & 4,0 kam uptides never had any probs, lifted a 12lber up cliff with 4,0 kam uptide, and yet u can still bend them out. even the uptides in the 5,0 r a much stronger hook & still rip them through the thick kelp & harder 2 bend out.
only thing i have found with both these hooks is if u use them another day & u have'nt dryed the hook off the time b4, even thou the uptides r corrosion resistant they get a rust spot on them & when heaving about in the thick stuff they can snap, hence i change hooks every sesh.
most lads i know use the sal****er champions strong sharp hooks but can bend out with steady presure, have 2 order online.

I've never seen the salt water champions, who makes them and where do you get them, sorry for the questions.
