runnidown

great post.. its solved a problem ive had, until I read this, my experience in runnydown always resulted in a mushy ball sitting untidly on my hook, never thought of tying it on...doh.!!

Its a crackin bait best used I found after xmas time with squid as a cocktail. Just bought 4 packs ready for a few sessions later but will get some more Grommet put another 5 packs away for me,cheers

Some grand advice,thanks.
I\'ve grabbed a few more packs for the freezer, hopefully the sea will be in our favour soon, roll on the winter.
cheers

Never mentioned it or showed it in the sketch, but yes....I usually use copious amounts of bait elastic. Didn\'t think to mention it - funny how you can easily overlook the obvious.......lol

Aye TC, I guessed that you used copious amounts of laccy as I found out when I put it on the hook and it slid back down like one of my socks inside me wellies as I\'m digging rag on Blyth slecks.
cheers

For what it\'s worth I find it\'s always worth having a couple of packets in the freezer along with razor, mussel or squid just to get you out at the last minute if conditions or opportunity arise

Aye although I mentioned tying it on with bait elastic....Forgot to mention how important the elastic is when tipping ...Lost count of the amount of times I\'ve either lost mine or forgot to pack some in me box...elastic bands don\'t seem to work as well...Lol.
Oh and the scissors to remove the stuff if I\'ve been over zealous when tying.

It\'s all been said already but last winter I had by far my best results with frozen runnydown and squid. It was only my 2nd winter and wasn\'t sure if it was just luck but that combination outfished fresh baits every time from November on. I ended up wrapping the worms up in whole squid. Was trying to avoid whiting but still managed to get small whiting on 6/0 hooks.
