how much should i be paying for fresh runnydown? and does anyone know were i can get them at? any help would be good

Try Scotts of Whitley Bay,not sure of prices,as a rule Runnydowns are frozen lug,you need to ask for fresh Black Lug

Don\'t think you can get fresh runny down. As far as I know they\'re big blacks with their guts removed and preserved by drying. (I\'m off for a quick google and may be back with an edit) If fresh lug is pork then runnydown is bacon type of sketch. And the fish often like bacon!

As Alan and Ell have said Runnydown is gutted and frozen Black lug, if its fresh blowlug you are on about then you can pay between £3-£4 a score depending where you make your purchase.
Fresh blacks are more expensive because of there size, I pay £12 a pound, but they are big buggers.

north east tackle in hartlepool twenty quid for 50 been getting then for years in the winter from here great quality i get then every 2 to 3 weeks depending on tides they keep great for a fortnight if u keep them in the fridge in a tray just covered in sea water but change eveery day and check for worms that have blown take them out and freeze

normal runny down is £2 for 10 in id fishing most of the diggers sell for same price some are less tho

rutherfords had some fresh runnydown in on friday, not sure how much it was though he also stocks frozen runnydown.
superb bait often outfishes fresh blow lug several fish to one, probably the best standby bait you can have in the freezer. you know if the sea suddenly comes away you don\'t have to faff about trying to find a tackle shop with fresh worm in.

Oh! - back to original post - average cost £3.50 - but \'quality\' can vary. Billy usually always has some in and will happily tell you how good it is. You can get those that are like liquorice - excellent (but taste sh*te to heteros) - and in my experience, the best, Always have some in your freezer + mackerel and squid.

YELLOW tails are just as good mate,i remember years ago that it was the same bait,yes yellow tails are smaller but,rather put 3 smaller baits on my trace than one big one,,have you ever seen a 1ft long black lug in a fish gob,stomach,,NOT,think about it mate !!!!!

I'd go for the one big one! Like a steak, a 22 oz Ox neck is more attractive than a load of itty bitty nugget efforts i.e. a mixed grill. Mixed grill is just breakfast for men who aren't allowed to have a proper breakfast at home.

i believe fresh runny down is worms that have been gutted but are only a few days old, un frozen .use my fresh runny downs before starting on fresh blacks .
