hi guys am after some information on what fly to use on river wear for salmon.anybody know what fly fishes well.

alreet tel, try red, or orange "allys shrimp" or black n silver stoats tail they both seem consistent catchers of both salmon or seatrout on the wear, if they didnt catch dont forget small tube flies in assorted colours may work. hope this helps a little korky.

Tel what about some of those tatty bits of carpet looking things, you tied yourself..... If the salmon dont swallow them they'll have a good laugh at them..

I packed in freshwater fishing ten years ago but for what it's worth this is my experience. Used to fish the Coquet at Elyhaugh, spelling will be wrong but it's between Longfram and Felton. Only landed one salmon on a fly, lost a couple and the fly was allys shrimp all the time. Caught a canny few good sea trout and the best fly was definitely mallard and claret but always when dusk started.

1st choice:Try 'Helmsdale co.' on net. Not cheap, but don't fall to bits, and good quality hooks ? Remember you only need a few?
Last I got arrived in two days !
2nd choice: 'theessentialfly', on net reasonable quality, very good price !
3rd choice: John Norris at Penrith, on net, but worth a visit, quality O.K.
